Page 5 of 8 About NPD research methodologies we employ • Research methodologies depend on the task. Some of our more innovative approaches harness the “wisdom of crowds” to try to determine not just the reaction of individuals but the prevailing response of the herd. Others are more traditional testing approaches using rating scales to whittle away under performing concepts. • We also have executed thousands of conjoint studies and are increasingly building our expertise with Max Diff (a similar paired comparison methodology that also produces insightful derived variables that really help decision making on a very practical level (compared to say ratings grids where every feature is important). • Flyresearch is strongest on quantitative methodologies, which usually means a survey. However, sometimes qualitative studies are more appropriate in which case we will recommend this route, but we will work with an experienced partner to execute either focus groups or depth interviews. • Of the techniques we offer (and mentioned above) it is possible to combine some of them into one survey tool – for example concept testing and in home tests can be combined. • Flyresearch staff have nearly all worked client side as well as agency side and so have a pragmatic approach to solutions – as long as they deliver the learning. |
